SENIOR LONELINESS
Let’s Chit Chat is an innovative program designed to alleviate stress of isolation. Loneliness is one of the greatest public health challenges of our time; it is unacceptable that so many people suffer in silence from this social injustice.
Social Distancing
Let’s Chit Chat is right for the times. Now more than ever, there is a need to find new ways to communicate during the separation caused by the global pandemic. This crisis has brought urgency to the forefront and greater awareness of social care needed for our seniors.
Stories to Tell
Let’s Chit Chat provides an audience for seniors, who need someone to listen, show compassion and understanding. This generation has a lifetime of memories, personal to each senior, which makes for engaging conversations and, most importantly, supports cognitive function.
Sharing is Caring
Let’s Chit Chat understands that wellness is not just the physical, it’s also the mental aspects of social interaction that are beneficial to a healthy lifestyle. When seniors are given the opportunity to express feelings (not keeping everything inside), it provides a calming effect and an outlet for relieving their stress.
Virtual Social Program
Let’s Chit Chat, with the help of compassionate community sponsors, will provide technical support with a number of basic Apple iPads for exclusive use of this initiative.
Each iPad is equipped with the capabilities to provide video calls (FaceTime or Zoom), audiovisual, on-camera two way appearances. A service provider (Wi-Fi) enables calls between the home and the Let’s Chit Chat host.
The facility will arrange call times with the Let’s Chit Chat host and provide brief introduction/background prior to scheduled virtual social calls with residents. Video calls are easy to set up and require minimum effort on behalf of the staff. No special training is required to implement the program—simple instructions are provided.
Digital Respite Time
Once the call is established, it frees time for PSWs and staff members to care for other residents. Each call will be a set schedule, ranging from 30–45 mins in length.
iPads will be sanitized prior to and after each call for additional safety concerns. To ensure safety, iPads will be secured with a variable password to ensure each unit is used exclusively for Let’s Chit Chat.
The Let’s Chit Chat host will engage each resident in pleasant conversation on a number of topics of relevance to the recipient. All conversations will remain private and not subject to any agenda outside the goal of creating a bond and ongoing relationship for further conversations.
Upon request, reports can be submitted for tracking purposes. No medical advice will be offered, any such request would be referred to the appropriate staff member.

SPONSORSHIP
Adults with parents in homes are concerned about the care of their loved ones and are the key demographic for Let’s Chit Chat marketing communications. Sponsorship of Let’s Chit Chat provides an opportunity to create an emotional brand connection to the “sandwich” generation of middle-aged adults (often in their 40s and 50s), who are caring for both elderly parents and their own children.
Let’s Chit Chat is welcoming public and private sector community support to provide the tools to facilitate the technology support to enact the social program. Association with brands and their media and public relations would generate greater awareness, community involvement, and increase brand loyalty.
Sponsorship and goodwill support will enable the program to reach a greater number of senior residents. Sponsors will be granted brand category exclusivity and granted rights to use the Let’s Chit Chat brand association in marketing and public relations campaigns. Sponsor identification in all Let’s Chit Chat correspondence, website, and social media visibility.

Leadership
Let’s Chit Chat is an initiative designed to improve the overall health and social welfare of our most vulnerable: seniors living in retirement and long-term care homes. Jules Masset, a successful business woman in the travel and entertainment industry, who once coordinated travel services for celebrities from Sir Paul McCartney to the Royal Family in her native United Kingdom, has created a new digital opportunity for senior virtual care.
After a hiatus to raise her two children in Aurora, Ontario, Jules pursued another passion: to make a difference in the lives of seniors by giving of her time. For the last few years, Jules has worked in a private retirement home in the York Region, and until COVID made its presence, she worked as a volunteer at Mackenzie Health Hospital, working primarily with the elderly in the HELP Program. Jules has also worked in recent years with The Elder’s Advocate and Discerning Seniors.
Jules wants to bring Let’s Chit Chat to the lives of seniors across Canada. She hopes to infuse happiness and compassion and make all seniors feel special with this exciting new venture.
